Behavioral Health Directory – How to Edit or Add an Organization

The new Barnstable County Behavioral Health web portal is a fantastic tool for our community providing critical information, communication, and advocacy tools with a single point of entry. It ensures there is “No Wrong Door” for those navigating the system of behavioral and mental health.

One of the key features of the new portal is a comprehensive Service Directory with over 100 services. This Service Directory enables consumers to easily locate the local programs and services they need most.

To make a Service Directory most effective, it needs to be complete, comprehensive, and up-to-date. Thus, several community organizations and coalitions provided their expertise and assistance in order to pre-populate the Service Directory before it launched in late September. This fantastic team was able to initially identify over 100 services, but chances are there are just as many organizations that still need to be added.

That’s where you come in!

If your organization isn’t listed in the Behavioral Health Service Directory yet, don’t worry: it’s super easy to include your agency’s information. Likewise, if your organization is already included but you would like to tweak or update the information currently listed, that’s very straightforward too.

To learn more about editing or adding your organization to the Behavioral Health Service Directory, please check out this quick tutorial below!

This is the first page you’ll come to when you head to the new Behavioral Health portal:

Main page

To find the Behavioral Health Service Directory, though, you’ll need to click on the “Service Directory” link located around the center of the page (just a touch above the green infographics). Or, you can get to the Service Directory by clicking on the “Services” link located next to the Home button in the top tool bar.

Once you’ve located the Behavioral Health Service Directory, the main page looks like this:

On the main page, as well as every other page within the Service Directory, there is a link titled “Add or Correct Info” on the left side.

Clicking that link will take you to the “Add or Correct Info” page which looks like this:

On this page you’ll find a link to the Agency Inclusion/Exclusion policy, as well as instructions on how to edit and/or add an agency.

To edit an agency currently listed:

Step #1 – Enter your agency’s name in the search field of the “Add or Correct Info” page, or find your listing alphabetically by clicking on the appropriate letter. Once you’ve found your agency, click on it and your page will open. In this case, we’ll use the Cape and Islands Suicide Prevention Coalition page as our guinea pig.

On their page, as well as every organization’s page, there is a link on the right side that says “Edit This Listing.”

Step #2 – Click on “Edit This Listing” to be taken to the “Edit Agency” page where you’ll be able to edit the information currently listed. On this page you’ll have access to everything from the agency name, description, contact information, and all other optional information you may wish to display. You can make as many edits or changes as you need.

Step #3 – Once you’ve made the necessary edits, you’ll enter your email so the vendor, Network of Care, who maintains the Service Directory on our behalf can contact you with any future questions. You’ll also have to enter a security code to prove that you’re not a spam bot.

Please note: Your changes will not be updated automatically. Instead they’re sent to Network of Care for review. Network of Care will then contact your agency (via the email address or phone number they already had on file) to ensure the changes and updates are authorized and genuine. This ensures no one can edit an entry that is not their own.

Step #4 – As mentioned above, in the coming days, your organization will be contacted by Network of Care to ensure the requested changes are genuine. Once confirmed, your changes will be published and available for all to access.

Step #5 – Once a year, all of the agencies listed within the Service Directory will be contacted and asked to review their entry for accuracy and completion. Don’t forget to follow through with this emailed request so as to ensure the Service Directory is as user-friendly as possible for our community!

To add a new agency to the Service Directory:

Step #1 – To add a new agency to the Service Directory, click on the “Add or Correct Info” link that’s found on the left side of every page in the Service Directory.

Step #3 – Next you’ll be taken to the “Add New Agency” page. This page is similar to the “Edit Agency” page mentioned in the earlier directions, except it’s blank – ready for you to add in your organization’s details.

On this page, you’ll be able to add everything from the agency name, description, contact information, and all other optional information you may wish to display. You can include as much information as you wish, but brevity and clarity are key to ensure user-friendliness.

Step #4 – Once you’ve finished filling in the form, you’ll enter your email so the vendor, Network of Care, who maintains the Service Directory on our behalf can contact you with any future questions. You’ll also have to enter a security code to prove that you’re not a spam bot.

Please note: Your organization will not be added automatically to the Service Directory. Instead Network of Care forwards the new agency request to our Department so we can verify again that your agency isn’t a spam bot and to ensure the agency meets the County’s Inclusion/Exclusion Policy. Once we’ve given the green light to Network of Care, you’re entry will be published and available for all to access.

Step #5 – Once a year, all of the agencies listed within the Service Directory will be contacted and asked to review their entry for accuracy and completion. Don’t forget to follow through with this emailed request so as to ensure the Service Directory is as user-friendly as possible for our community!
