BARNSTABLE COUNTY HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION SEEKS NEW COMMISSIONERS

May 16, 2018. The Barnstable County Human Rights Commission is seeking candidates to fill three vacancies on the Commission for terms ending December 2020; and one vacancy to complete a partial term, ending December 2018 (with the possibility of seeking reappointment for a full three-year term). The nine-member volunteer Human Rights Commission was created in 2005 by the County’s Assembly of Delegates to promote equal opportunity, prevent discrimination, investigate and mediate complaints and provide human rights information.

Responsibilities include attending meetings; responding to complaints from County residents, workers and visitors; educating the public about human rights and the work of the HRC; and designing and implementing the annual Human Rights Academy for high school and middle school students.  For more information about the Human Rights Commission, go to www.barnstablecountyhrc.org.

Interested candidates, who must be permanent residents of Barnstable County, should submit a cover letter and resume, postmarked no later than Friday, May 25, 2018, to: Barnstable County Human Services Department, HRC Candidates, P.O. The Barnstable County Health & Human Services Advisory Council reviews applications for this volunteerposition, and makes recommendations to the Barnstable County Commissioners.  The County Commissioners appoint Commissioners to the Human Rights Commission.
