History

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health established the Community Health Network Area (CHNA) effort in 1992.  The Cape and Islands comprise CHNA 27.  A Community Health Network is a local coalition of public, non-profit, and private sectors working together to build healthier communities in Massachusetts through community-based prevention planning and health promotion.

For more information about CHNA go to the Mass Department of Public Health, Office of Healthy Community website at http://www.mass.gov/dph/ohc.
