First Annual Cape Cod and Islands Behavioral Health Summit: Building Bridges to Recovery, October 4th, 2013

The First Annual Cape Cod and Islands Behavioral Health Summit: Building Bridges to Recovery will be held on Friday, October 4th 2013 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Cape Cod, 287 Iyanough Road, Hyannis. Primarily designed for health care providers, but open to all, this summit aims to address substance abuse and mental health concerns on Cape Cod and the Islands and to engage attendees in learning and networking to enhance community-wide efforts to develop solutions, share knowledge, build relationships, and discover opportunities for future involvement. Speakers will include:

  • Kathryn Power M. Ed., Regional Administrator at the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA)
  • Katie Volk, M.A., Director of T3 -Trauma Informed Care and Senior Associate at the Center for Social Innovation
  • Kappy Madenwald, LISW-S, Independent Consultant for Crisis Systems of Care and consultant to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Office of Behavioral Health and Massachusetts Behavioral Health Partnership (MBHP).

The day-long agenda will also include a panel of peer leaders and families, remarks from area mental health and substance abuse providers, and opportunities to network. There will be a registration fee; however, attendance includes lunch and refreshments and contact hours and CEUs. Final details on the agenda and registration will be available late July. This event is organized by the Cape Cod Behavioral Health Steering Committee comprised of representatives from Barnstable County Department of Human Services, Cape Cod Council of Churches, Cape Cod Healthcare, Cape Cod Center for Wellbeing, Department of Mental Health, Duffy Health Center, Fellowship Health Resources, Gosnold on Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard Community Health Services, National Alliance on Mental Illness, Northeast Health Services, Resource Connection Center in Hyannis-Peer Community,  South Bay Mental Health, and Vinfen.
