On May 11, 2016, Harvard Addiction Psychiatrist Dr. Kevin Hill held an informative talk on underage drinking, teens & marijuana & opioids.  Presented by the Lower Cape Prevention Partnership, Harwich Youth Services and hosted by Monomoy Regional High School Peer Leaders student group and Cape Cod Regional Technical High School, Dr. Kevin Hill presented on the science of addiction.  Kevin P. Hill, M.D., M.H.S., is an addiction psychiatrist in McLean Hospitalâs Division of Alcohol and Drug Abuse and Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Hillâs clinical research is focused primarily on medications and behavioral interventions that might improve available treatments for those wanting to stop smoking marijuana or cigarettes. He is the author of “Marijuana: The Unbiased Truth about the Worldâs Most Popular Weed”.

Monomoy Regional School District is a partner of the Department of Human Services’ Substance Abuse Prevention Collaborative (SAPC) grant.  SAPC is part of a comprehensive approach to substance use prevention across the Commonwealth.  With funding provided by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health Bureau of Substance Abuse Services, the SAPC program in Barnstable County is part of a coordinated regional prevention effort. SAPC uses evidence-based strategies including policy, practice, and system change to reduce substance misuse and build capacity throughout the community to address underage drinking and other illicit substance use.   SAPC partners include Monomoy Regional School District, Dennis- Yarmouth Regional School District, Sandwich Public Schools, Cape Cod Community College, Cape Cod Collaborative, and Cape Cod Regional Technical High School.  The SAPC Grant is administered by the Barnstable County Department of Human Services and its activities are integrated with the Regional Substance Abuse Council and the Massachusetts Opioid Abuse Prevention Collaborative ( MOAPC) to coordinate regional efforts to combat substance use on Cape Cod.
