Beth Albert, Director, launched the Barnstable County Regional Substance Abuse Council’s My Choice Matters media campaign in the Harborview Room of the Barnstable County Complex. In an effort to increase positive decisions, the Cape-wide My Choice Matters campaign reinforces the positive behaviors of our community members and encourages healthy choices.

Beth Albert, Director, was a guest on the Inside Cape Cod radio program with Sara Colvin Nelson to discuss Barnstable County Regional Substance Abuse Council’s My Choice Matters campaign and the My Choice Matters first annual “Parent Summit: Parenting to Prevent Substance Use”. The 30-minute program was aired on all four of Cape Cod Radio stations – Y101, Frank 93.5, Pixy 103, and Koffee 98.7.

Sheila Curtis, Program Manager for the Cape and Islands Regional SHINE office, had a busy month getting ready for Open Enrollment.

Presented Medicare and the Annual Open Enrollment to those on Medicare at the following locations:
October 14, 2016 – Mashpee Council on Aging
October 17, 2016 – Falmouth Council on Aging
October 19, 2016 – Truro Council on Aging and Provincetown Council on Aging
October 24, 2016 – Chatham Council on Aging
October 27, 2016 – Orleans Council on Aging

October 19, 2016 – Participated in a taped session at WOMR, Provincetown with the Provincetown COA Director, Chris Hottle on the SHINE program and Medicare’s Open Enrollment.

October 25, 2016 – Presented Medicare and municipal health plans to retired or soon to retire Sandwich firefighters at the Sandwich Fire Station.


Healthy Connected Cape Cod is the conceptual framework that ties together the work of Barnstable County’s Department of Human Services.  The Department’s goal is to organize regional approaches by engaging residents, health and human service organizations, and coalitions and networks throughout Cape Cod to plan and implement activities that promote health and well-being for County residents.
