“N.E. Ending Youth Homelessness Summit” Report Released
The first “New England Ending Youth Homelessness Summit” in November 2016 brought together over 130 federal, state and local partners, community leaders and other stakeholders from all New England states to hear youthsâ experiences of homelessness. learn about model policies and practices and create new partnerships with federal, state and community leaders. Â The event’s Summit Report includes highlights from speakers, key findings from research and state break-out sessions, and specific next steps on developing a Coordinated Community Response to youth homelessness.

As a follow-up to the Summit, the Federal Regional Interagency Council is seeking input from state and local leaders on ways to might support community efforts and is offering support in the following ways: informational list-serve; consultation with staff from a federal agency (Housing and Urban Development (HUD), Health and Human Services (HHS), Administration for Children and Families (ACF), Substance Abuse and Mental Health Association (SAMHSA), Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), Department of Education; examples of other stateâs plans to end youth homelessness or other resources to help your planning and collaboration efforts; assistance with connecting to your local Continuum of Care; and information on the economic impact of youth homelessness in your state or community.

Barnstable County Department of Human Services convenes the Cape and Islands Regional Network on Homelessness – a collaborative effort of state, county and local government, social service providers, housing agencies, faith-based organizations, the business community and individuals working together to prevent and end homelessness.
Barnstable County Department of Human Services is the collaborative applicant for the Continuum of Care Grant Program which provides homeless assistance funding administered by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) under the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act.  As the primary federal resource to end homelessness, the Continuum of Care (CoC) grant program competitively funds CoCs to impact homelessness at the local level.
